Altis Life Update 3/3/2016 + Hotfix

  • Added restricted air zones to jail and fed
    • Helicopters flying near these zones will be warned
    • If you fly too close you will hear a lock on sound for 10 seconds, if you do not fly far enough away a missile with fire at you
    • The missile sites can be hacked and disabled
    • Cops can repair the missile sites
  • Re-made player tags a bit, custom 'tilde' functionality added. Placing your cursor over a player will display their player tags beyond the 17m normal limit. Tilde only works up to 75m away for people on foot, 200m for land vehicles, 400 for helis, etc.
  • GA vests added
  • $1000 increase to paycheck
  • Check license should now be fixed
  • Oil rig added by @ToeKnee
  • Capture the flag fixes
  • Copper weight fixed, it's no longer 1-1
  • Fixed house cleanup, properties which have not been used in 60 days go back up for sale.
  • Sand bags at jail fixed, they're properly aligned to ground now

Hotfix:

  • Player tag fixes
    • Fixed issue where emblems would show on civilians or wrong units
    • Increased size of player tags for targets spotted with 'tilde'
    • Adjusted colors of player tags for cops/medics
    • Semi-Fixed issues where duplicate player tags would be shown for vehicles/players
  • Updated white-listed slots to fix the issue preventing login if someone was in the first slot.

Nice update. Can we please expand the tilde range on foot a bit more? it is very hard to initiate RP on foot when I can't text the guy. From what I understand, the point of shortening this is to stop people from "scanning" for others hiding in bushes. These scans rarely, if ever happen while someone is on foot. Maybe make the tilde range up to 700M on foot, but leave vehicle and heli the same?

Texting someone to engage RP is usually low quality shit RP anyways. Get close, use voice, roleplay.

The ranges i've set are pretty reasonable. I'll be looking into increasing spotting distances based on if you're looking through binoculars, or through a scope perhaps (probably not possible for if looking down scope).

And to clarify, the distance limitations are the same regardless of what vehicle you're in, the limitations are based on what type of unit you're targeting.

Forget the phrase tilde, I just called it that because it's what people are familiar with. The new mechanic is like a constantly enabled 'spotter'. If you move your cursor right over another unit and they're within the required distance for their unit type then the player tag will be enabled for a few seconds, or for as long as you look at them.

The current system has some slight bugs, but the main functionality works.

it prevents you to send a text to the guy 600m away and shoot him out.

 

I can confirm you can see military ranks next to SOME players name. Not next to all players name, but like 60-70%.

*Is praying to the oh mighty Poseidon for a hotfix on server slots issue* :ph34r: It is causing quite the confusion and disarray even with all the temporary fixes out already (thanks Bubbaloo).  When it's not busy it works out eventually - but when it is busy there is a standstill on redeployment/getting backup for cops and medics almost completely until there is a break in calls.  

As always I'm sure you've already worked it out - or you are already addressing it seeing as there was a ton of support from admins and mods to help solve this issue.  Either way good luck and thanks again!

Update is great all-in-all.  Thanks for coming up with an alternative form of getting names and fixing licenses. You certainly delivered with this one, nice work.
