  1. So does that excuse people who combat store HEMETTs because rebels don't always initiate either? The sins of a few should not apply to the whole. Good vigilantes shouldn't be punished because of bad vigilantes just like rebels and cops shouldn't be punished for bad rebels and cops. Also, there's a difference between vigi abuse and just breaking the rules, too many people believe they're the same thing. I'm in college and my field is in Computer Science, particularly in coding. If I were to make an educated guess as to how the code would function, it would look something like: If player2 combat logs, place bones. Player1 sends bones to jail. If player2 has a bounty greater than or equal to 40,000 and Player1 has a vigilante license or is a cop, give x% of bounty total to player's bank account. Proceed with sending player2 to jail and wiping bounty. If the bones can track the player who owned the bones, then it can be used to pull their bounty amount and calculate the amount of money to be given to the person who sends the bones to jail since they also have their bounty wiped when they go to jail, meaning that info is still available to the server even though they aren't in it, which makes sense cause it'd be stupid for the devs to not be able to access that info.
  2. I'm guessing none of the people here have actually tried to be a full-time vigilante, so hearing "Get over it" is kind of an admission of either you hate vigi's to the point you want to block every attempt to make their lives more fair, or you have no idea the amount of money that is lost because of combat logging. The only reason I have money is because I play APD every now and then when I feel like it and it pays for everything and more. If you ask any vigilante how much money they lose to combat loggers, they'll tell you "a fuck ton". Have you been a dev? If so, I appreciate the info but if not please don't assume what can and cannot be done by the devs.
  3. Is it considered greedy to get the money you should have gotten, or even less, assuming people didn't break the rules of the server? I'll grant you APD makes money, but that's like saying you're making 2.5mil a day, but because of people breaking rules, you only ever get 2 mil, but you should just deal with it because you have money. That's still money you should have earned given the effort you put into getting it. People don't get rich by letting money slip by, they count their dollars. This is also more geared towards vigilantes who are really the ones having their bank accounts hit because of combat loggers.
  4. We all hate combat loggers, and it's great that the Olympus Staff put in the system to punish them (send their bones to jail). However, an annoyance that I run into all the time as a vigilante is people combat logging after we tase them, or after we restrain them and they realize they aren't getting away. Normally, it's just like, "Eh, whatever, at least he's taken care of." Unfortunately for vigilantes and cops, that's your income dropping out of the game. If it's possible, I'd like to see vigilantes and cops receive a cut of the bounty of the person they send to jail for combat logging, even at a reduced percentage of 10%-20%. I suggest this because it's not just a couple scats every now and then, my friends and I could make a montage out of the amount of people that have combat logged on us after we tried to arrest them. I'd say we've lost in the hundred thousands of dollars worth (i.e. 100,000-999,999 although it's probably lower than the max) from lost bounties due to combat logging. Thanks for the view
  5. I appreciate the responses, I'll try using some of these. Sometimes I'm not very creative lol
  6. So in my experience as a vigilante, the only problem I've run into is when someone shoots at me, but doesn't have a bounty to cash in on once I tase them. This is also when the APD isn't around, so my question is what can I do with these people? Executing people in restraints is bad, so what else? I'd like to hear what other people suggest.
  7. I arrested a guy for about 314,000 and didn't get the money either, something definitely isn't working properly. That's money I was supposed to get, the bounty was over 800,000
  8. I appreciate and understand that the devs have a lot to work on. After grandma gary posted, my main goal was basically completed, which was getting admin attention. At this point all I'm trying to do is sway public opinion about vigilantes. I promise no more threads beyond this one, as I agree that no more are necessary, as my point is made. @JBruesch, I think that me and you could go on forever. Let's agree to disagree, as it's up to the admins at this point and this thread is super long as is. I'd like to apologize if I was a bit rude with some replies, and started making assumptions. It's been an uphill battle for me to make my case, and appreciate the criticism, as it gives admins more to consider. GG to all who replied to this thread, now we play the waiting game to see what fruits are born of our labor.
  9. Deputies can make it work because they don't have to buy their gear if they die. Usually if I die fighting a rebel as a deputy, I might buy more ammo. That's it. Then I'm back in the fight. If a vigilante dies, one of two things happen. a) They wait for a medic and pay the $10,000 for revive + amount of money to replace their food, water, redgull, and zipties. Possibly ammo too if they don't get that back after revive. c) (I skipped to c because it kept making the emogi) The vigi respawns and spends $69,000+ to buy their gear back. There is a much higher loss for vigi's to lose a fight than for a deputy to lose a fight. That's why vigi's need a better chance the first time, cause it's the only chance they get.
  10. Use a heli and do what? Shoot at people from 50 meters up on a moving bench with a 9mm, while they also shoot back with higher power and more accurate rifles? Any Kavala scat can go to black market and get at least a 5.56 rifle. Ballistics are a thing in arma, and I can tell you from experience that 9mm doesn't cut it because I've tried that before. If you think the MXC is an overpowered weapon, I don't think this conversation can continue much farther. If anything, the MXC would be a bridge between the deputy sting and the PO MX. The APD would most certainly still be a relevant and populated role with the vigilante improvement.
  11. This is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Everyone treats vigilantes like dirt, kill them on sight, and refuse to give them decent weapons. How do you think rebels would react if this was reversed?
  12. If a person with a bounty, who by getting a bounty subjected themselves to this risk, happened to be super close to a vigilante shop so that your scenario would be feasible, then yes. It's good RP.
  13. And I have also discussed this. Vigilantes almost have to break the rules to make any money. Giving them the tools to stand a better chance at being successful while following the rules will reduce the amount of failed RP among vigilantes, not to mention that tier 2 vigilantes would be making a large financial investment in the role, giving them motivation to follow the rules so they don't lose their stuff. Also, rebels break the rules too. Where's the outrage against them?
  14. If that's what they decide to do, so be it. That's RP for you. At least vigi's would have the ability to fight back. Being a vigi is difficult in itself precisely because of that tactic. Vigi's basically have to pretend to not be a vigi right up until they need to engage. Also, if they do decide to camp the body, then they're just sitting there risking their lives. I don't see very many rebels camping bodies of other rebels with far better guns. Not saying it wouldn't happen, just that vigi's should still at least have the option to carry a better gun and risk being robbed or camped, just like a rebel would.
  15. Sure, vigilantes aren't polar opposites to rebels. They can't be. After all, why would they want to go after their bounties since rebels are most often the ones with the bounties. If this server really is supposed to be APD vs. Rebel and Rebel vs Rebel then why are there any other roles at all. Why not just center the gametype around those three and nothing else. Basically make it wasteland with slight RP. That argument is bullshit. And vigi's being terrible RP is an opinion. Just because the RP of vigilante in terms of justifiable crimes doesn't always work out for the victim, that's RP for you. People like RP until all of a sudden it start's working against them and now they aren't having fun cause they're not on top.
