It's the R9 270, not the 270x.

I would wait on getting a new card, amd is going to release the 390x etc, in the next couple months, which will lower the prices of the cards that are already out. Also keep in mind that when windows 10/ directX 12 (mantle spinoff) comes out amd cards will get a huge boost. Although arma 3 isnt directX 12. Long story short just wait, you wont regret it.

Was going to tell you to wait on Steam but you already got it. Honestly if you are playing Arma/GTA on High and getting 60-90 why even waste the money on a GPU?

I really thought about waiting but I'm just an impatient guy. I didn't even need to purchase this, I just start wanting things when I start looking at them. Thanks for the advice, but I'll probably keep this card a year and then sell it. With my current build and this new gpu, I should be able to still run any game out in 1 years time so it will be fine for me.

Just now reading this, after I went ahead and ordered the 970 with overnight shipping, lol. I know about the new series coming out this fall, but didn't eat to wait that long.

Installing my 16gb ram and 970 friday. Wife, and son will be out of town all weekend so I'll definitely be breaking the new equipment in. Thanks for everyone's response.

So....I know I made a status update on this, but wanted to let other people comment and vote. I am torn between the 290x and the 970 at the moment. Both are great cards, but I am on the fence on which one would suit me best. Below are my pc specs, along with my pros/cons for each card. What is your opinion. Don't really want to spend more than $370. BTW my r9 270 can get anywhere from 60-90fps on arma 3 and gta v (PC).

Really only a 3.5gb card, instead of a 4gb. I have read when you go over 3.5vram that the card itself slows down and starts having problems - Big issue for me

 

290x:

I had my mind set on the 970, but have read so many negative reviews about the 3.5gb vram and the card becoming slower if going over that. With the 290x you have all of the 4gb vram to use.

 

My main games I will be using this for is Arma 3, and GTA V. Yes I have dayz, h1z1, Counter strike, etc, but will mainly be upgrading due to arma 3 and gtav .

I can't speak for everyone, but I had to submit for staff TWICE and waited a total of 18 weeks before my application was mentioned to me, even then I had a couple weeks before I was talked to again. There was a lull on processing of applications in addition to once you apply, you are watched by all of us to see how you behave in game and on the forums. Staff positions are not something freely as we work together and if you (not your specifically) aren't a team player, then you won't fit in very well. If you can't handle stressful situations, then you won't work out as a staff member. Its more than just "I've been here a long time and I want to help, make me staff."

I totally agree, and I didn't mean that since we have been here a long time we deserve anything. I just made the point that there are multiple staff applications, from long term members, that could be considered more, than just senior APD. In no way did I mean it as, "since we have been here a long we should be staff." I simply meant it that there are others that have a good reputation that could be considered, that are not higher up on the apd chain.

 

Personally I think that our staff has done a great job in trying to keep everyone happy. Sure, when you have hundreds of players you can't meet everyone's demands. 

I, and many others, have had staff applications since late last year. We have people that are wanting to help out, but it seems like only senior APD are allowed to become staff. Myself, as well as others, have been playing on the server for 8+ months and have read up on all the rules and know whats going on. We have people that are willing, just not given the chance. I know that it takes time to trust someone before handing over a higher position in the forums/server but I think with more staff I we can get things done faster.

 

I do appreciate the admins and moderators that constantly are doing what needs to be done. In no way is this post directed towards them. I just think we could have a little more staff to help out the community. Just my opinion. Thank you for all of the admins/developers/moderators that do bust their ass to make Olympus awesome.

TREE is still just a new clan, and I don't understand all the publicity around them, but maybe I have not played enough civ to see them, in a particular server. Although from what I have seen, on forum videos, you guys are good role players...I have never even ran into a TREE member, any server I have been on, so IMHO they are big enough to be one of the clans that fight. You want clans that you see everytime you hop in a server, am I right? Not being harsh, just stating a point.

 

Why not all of the veteran clans fight, that have been around a while, and everyone knows them. Burban, POTP, MC
