Chief of Police Popular Post xsmitherz 1845 Posted December 5 Chief of Police Popular Post Report Posted December 5 - APD State of the Faction - Today marks a turning point for the future of the APD. With Rexo passing the torch to me, I believe it’s important that we hit the ground running and make a clear statement about what comes next. There’s no time to wait or sit idle. The APD needs immediate action to set the ship straight and ensure the faction continues to grow. We’ve had our highs and lows, but through it all one thing has remained consistent: the members of Olympus showing up and playing day after day. As I step into the role of Chief, there are a few things that will take immediate effect: Activity: The SAPD will be held to the same standards as the JrAPD when it comes to activity: I’m sure everyone has heard the excuse, “they do a lot of paperwork in the backend”, just to find out they haven't been involved in any way for months, but moving forward I expect my seniors to actually put time into the faction. Special circumstances will of course be taken into account, but going months on end without playing or contributing to the faction in any meaningful way will no longer be acceptable. Consistency with punishments: I’ve heard from many of you that it can feel like some people get away with things that others cannot. Moving forward, I will work to ensure consistency and clarity in how disciplinary action is handled. I will also be reviewing a large amount of blacklists to determine if any should be overturned. I’ve pushed for this standard in the past, but in my new position I now have the ability to fully follow through on the actions that need to take place. If you feel you’ve received unfair treatment, please reach out to me directly and I will review your case individually. Progression: The jump from JrAPD to SAPD will always be a heavily evaluated and carefully considered process that is not a guarantee for all. However, I’ve heard from many that moving from PO to Corporal often feels like a popularity contest or an impossible grind. I’ll be working with the SAPD to determine whether adjustments should be made to how we evaluate Patrol Officers who want to progress. This is a delicate process, but if we find room for improvement, those changes will be implemented. Community: The sense of community between the SAPD and JrAPD has become almost non-existent. After working with @Abraham and @Treebeard on this, we’ve put together a plan to bring that back. There will be more details soon as we finish setting everything up with the rest of the SAPD, but here’s the general idea: On a rotating basis (TBD), the leaders of each squad will meet with their juniors to discuss problems, solutions, and ideas for the APD Roundtable, conversations that will drive positive change within the faction. I’ve heard countless comments like “I’ve never talked to my LT before” and that’s something that will no longer be the norm. If you’re interested in stepping up within the faction, you’ll now have a clear way to voice your thoughts and be heard. I’m genuinely excited for this. I believe it will help restore the sense of community I felt within the APD when I first joined back in 2015. To Olympus: The APD is a fundamental part of our community. We are a cops, robbers, and medic server, and no faction can thrive without the other. Moving forward, I will do everything in my power to ensure the APD continues to grow and remain a fun, balanced faction that helps the server prosper for as long as possible. If you feel something needs to change, please come to me or any member of the SAPD. I’m grateful for everyone who continues to put in the time, effort, and passion that keeps this faction and this server alive. We have a real opportunity to build, improve, and set a standard we can all be proud of, and I’m excited to lead us into that next chapter together. @Senior APD Member - @APD Officer - @Olympus Plus - @Member 23 11 5 2 1 1 1
