There are tons of surrounding areas that are beautiful. even in PA or Jersey have potential options. both are with in driving distance. taxes in PA are a ton cheaper than NY

but living in the city is really expensive. on top of that living in nyc you are basically living in your own state. they have their own set of taxes and laws that dont apply any where else
