  1. YAP ⚠️ YAP⚠️YAP⚠️

In general terms the APD fall in three camps.

I - Teens and newer guys who enjoy playing cops and robbers on steroids.

These guys can be a bit goofy but they're usually well meaning and won't usually screw you over unless you're extremely rude.

They tend to be lower ranking and are usually decent about following the rules although they can be a bit immature.

II - Older players who have their lives together but stick around to goof around.

They're usually higher ranking but tend to be somewhat inactive or hold retired rank.

They can sometimes be a bit curt and tolerate less bullshit because they've been around for years, but they're also very easy-going and usually don't care too much about small stuff and money.

I won't name names but they're dudes who have fulfilling lives outside the game and play for fun. Some are even IRL cops who come here to goof around.

    III Tryhards and trolls/losers

The active ones are hall monitors who are trying to grind out crazy hours and statistics to advance so they're hardasses. It's not really their fault because they're under a lot of pressure to put up numbers.

The retired ones had APD "careers" that got them far enough to have permanent whitelists but stagnated before they could leave on their own terms and they didn't quite get over it.

Thing is, some of these guys also have some very grim lives outside the game to the extent that Arma 3 police rank is one of the only things they've achieved in their lives so they have a ton of power and take out their frustrations at the world on people playing a 12 year old game.

They're also the worst because they don't have much to lose so they truly do not give a damn.

Aside from that, you have to remember the APD is made up of humans.

Sometimes people can have bad days, and some people are just nasty 24/7. I have seen some very nice people be rude after back to back feds and dispute fights.

Hell I'm guilty of having been disproportionately harsh to civs because one person in the group was being uncivil and I was just done with their shit.

Also know that the APD will usually just mirror your energy, if you act combative, start bringing up rules and throwing words around like "IA" you will lose any sympathy you could have had.

  2. When you log into the server you'll see a popup saying "created by Dashtonic" because he was the dev who laid down the groundwork for the current mission file.

Right off the bat reforger no longer uses SQF, it uses Enforce which is C# with some quirks so most of the scripts will need to be re-made and the current development team would have to expand to include people with experience in C# and give them some time to adapt to a new language.

Same goes for all the backend stuff handled by the webdev team like LifeControl, stats page integration, APIs, etc. Even if the groundwork exists, converting it to a new game isn't exactly simple.

This lack of manpower applies to all aspects of modding : every part of the development team would need to undergo a conversion into reforger's tools or the teams would once again need to expand, and that search more or less requires leaving the current player base to find people more familiar with reforger's mechanics.

Ultimately it would be harmful in the sense that you would need to double the workload for all staff departments which would in all likelihood crush morale or fail if there aren't enough people onboard with working double for zero rewards. The other option would be creating a parallel structure of development and administrative staff that isn't exactly simple and once again creates issues in the sense of resource allocation.

We've already seen this with the Olympus Tanoa Life and Malden Life servers when Arma 3 was in a much healthier state, they both flopped and that was in a context where everything outside a few textures could be shared between servers, which isn't an option in this case.

you're not wrong with the body camping or playerbase. Definitely doesn't help your case that you're a vigi. No one likes vigis and would rather them have NLR so they can't fuck with them around there.

I swear dudes will just bodycamp for sport.

The other day went to a dead guy way out in the sticks and a dude was body camping him and denied him, I asked him why he couldn't just text RnR that information 10 minutes ago and spare a trip during a time with a ton of calls and his response was "I just found this dude here and want to fuck with him" smdfh.

12k hours and decent shots = must be cheating.. you play a game that has some of the worst net code I’ve ever seen.. sometimes lag is just lag…

Def, a lot of the cheating accusations would be disproven by a kill cam.

Still, there are some groups and some players who are sketchy as hell even if most cheating isn't.

  5. @ -dante-  has been kicking around the server for close to a decade at this point.

When I was Jr APD in 2017 he would consistently play with everyone and listed to their grievances or ideas despite being a sous-chef and the norm being closed channels.

As a staff member he was always one of the most accessible ones to the point where even if you had a very stupid rules question he'd explain it without judgment.

Luckily I haven't dealt with him in years because I follow the rules 95% of the time, but despite having a golden ticket to retirement he came back, is one of the most active staff members and actually gives a shit.

I disagree with his opinion and his judgement from time to time, but no one can say he's not competent and motivated.

WPL allows you to legally carry up to a katiba and basically black market legal equivalent guns and its only 50K. Meanwhile, the rebel equivalent is 5M just to buy more weapons and 5M + per processor to get bonuses and sell bonus..

WPL already gives you sell boost, more guns legal (in any gun store) and is only 50K... there has to be balance somewhere

The balance is : if you do any sheisty shit with the special gear you can be sent straight to jail by the APD and you are blocked via a script from doing any illegal runs blocking you into legal.

Advanced rebel also gives other benefits like special vehicles, an expanded weapons shop, better rebel gear while WPL just gives you a T3 vest and a shitty 6.5 rifle.

That was because your ass was straight up helping a dude to rob people on cop.

None of us were on when you called in about this mythical stolen truck, but we were playing when he informed us of a run with 4 vehicles at mushroom pro before he engaged you. What kind of robber would inform the police of what they're doing before robbing you? He gave up immediately, got the person who was with them to turn himself in and most of his charges were due to property crimes.

Helps a rebel with very illegal gear and like 9 manslaughters and 20 gta related charges to get revived, and sends him on his way while arresting the people he was trying to rob who had no charges at all.

The guy also gave us intelligence leading to the seizure of 1.8 million in drugs, was chill, and waited in cuffs for half an hour while we re-enacted the battle for COP Keating with your friends at Sofia HQ (who tried to take us hostage too).

Also, you guys were all wanted by the time all was said and done, if you had just been nice and civil instead of threatening to demote us from minute 1 we would have probably just cut you loose, like I said Sov, the client chooses the service they get and you do yourself no favors by being belligerent and going nuclear for small stuff.

Within 2 weeks I have gone from not knowing you to having an strong dislike of you, I can only imagine how the cops who've been dealing with your shit for months feel about it.

@ Tyrone Jefferson   If ya'll weren't being insanely sketchy and ignoring mandatory events to camp my house for an hour, lets see the unedited video?

    8z8ea2.jpg

There are no cops in the thread replying to your vague allusions about rule breaks and demotions because it's 1PM on a Sunday and most people are enjoying their weekend rather than getting into circular arguments about the finer points of Arma 3 roleplay law.

Your whole antihero shtick has started to affect you deeply. Not everything is a conspiracy, the APD and the world aren't out to get you and most people are ambivalent about you; that is until you start schizoposting about khaballic networks linking the APD to Sr Staff and in-game gangstalkers all working towards the sole goal of screwing you out of your gear and money.

Even worse, half the time you start crying about rules, be they on the APD or on the Civ side you don't actually cite anything so it sounds like you're just pulling things out of your ass and hoping the vague threats work in your favor.

I'll be 100 with you. I think at times you have some decent ideas for the server but we've never really interacted... that was until I arrested you twice since coming back for the summer. Every time I've interacted with you on cop you have just been so thoroughly unpleasant between the threats of demotion, disputes, raging and smugness that I now understand why someone would camp your house for an hour to acquire PC, I now get why you're a meme on par with Big John and why some of the APD is just downright rude to you.

Like I told you, the customer chooses the service they receive, if you didn't make 30 minute conspiracy videos anytime you felt a cop slightly wronged you, or articuled your points with more eloquence than vague allusions to rules you can't cite and threats maybe the APD would be nice to you.

You made me lose my multiple month streak of never giving out full tickets and never seizing guns because of just how toxic it was to deal with you, and I've only "known" you for all of two weeks for crying out loud.

Broke : only allow trades through BM and auction house

Woke : allow both and staff intervention

Bespoke : make the other party commit a gross violation of the rules and record it as to give you collateral in case they try to back out

You should also be able to use a vest for as long as your gang is in restraints. The amount of times the weeb cunts in APD have reported me for turning APD HQ into 1945 Hiroshima 6 minutes after we last engaged is not good.

If your boys are in restraints, initiation continues until they're jailed or released.

We can make that work, but only if you don't cry foul when you get insta-tazed the moment you come close to HQ or be a rules-lawyer.

Can't tell you the amount of civs who will RDM you because their buddy is in restraints and then cry foul and dispute over any technicality when they get reversed on and captured.

More in detail than any of the case summaries I'd written in law school (phd candidate btw), couple of inaccuracies but I enjoyed the read nonetheless

FWIW I'm doing this shit in Fr*nch, the methodology and terminology for US Law escapes me even if FIRAC is a universal evil.

  13. Facts

During an active federal reserve robbery, Mr @ doubleueyeceekay (the claimant) placed a Caesar BTT airplane at the gate of the Altis International Airport police precinct (Air HQ) as to impede the Altis Police Department (APD) from responding to the robbery. In response to the blockage, Staff-Sergeant @ knifemaster (the defendant) utilized a Hunter armored vehicle to collide with the airplane leading to the death of a bystander and the destruction of the airplane incurring damages of no-less-than $200,000 to the claimant.

A dispute was filed and an ad-hoc mediation between the parties proved to be fruitless, as a result, the claimant filed a suit before the competent jurisdiction (APD Internal Affairs) who issued a ruling in-favor of the officer alleging that the practice of ramming vehicles, while prima fascie a violation of Ch 2 § 3-4 of the Altis Life Rules, has a longstanding acceptance under customary law wherein related to vehicles utilized to render a federal event inaccessible.

    Issue

The reasoning of the court relied on the bad-faith utilisation of a server rule as to impede the APD from carrying out their obligations. The question posed by this case is as-follows ; can the violation of a server rule be legitimate if used to combat an action that can only sustain itself through the abuse of another rule?

    Ratio

The main law applicable to this case is Ch II § 3-4 of the Altis Life Rules (VDM) and Ch XII § 9 of the APD Handbook (federal events) although this case has smaller implications concerning chapters XVII § 2-5 (applicability of server rules during federal events) and XXIII §2 (event disruption) of the Altis Life Rules.

    Analysis

To understand the ruling issued by the court, it is vital to first analyse Ch 2 § 3-4 of the Altis Life Rules which states as follows

3 - Do not ram other vehicles for no reason.

4 - If your intention is to collide with another vehicle for whatever reason (To pit, disable, immobilize, troll, etc.) that's fine. However, if you collide with a vehicle on purpose and because of the collision there is an explosion/death, then you may be found accountable and may be banned. You initiate these maneuvers at your own risk.

This section of the code is at the heart of the disagreement between the parties, as the defendant's argument relies on the specific verbiage "for no reason" as a means to render their destruction of the claimant's vehicle as a legitimate act, meanwhile the claimant believes that the specific mention of explosions caused by a "valid" collision establishes the defendant's liability.

Furthermore, it is not possible do discuss this case without touching on Ch XII § 9 of the APD Handbook which establishes a contractual obligation for APD officers to respond to federal events unless otherwise directed by ranking officers. This creates a conflict of laws wherein the claimant's actions were a direct impediment to the execution of another server rule, nonetheless, even as the court acknowledged, the hierarchy of norms place server rules above APD rules, this is further reinforced by Ch XVII § 2-5 of the server rules which establishes that :

2-5 All other server rules still apply such as APD Wave rules, NLR, ect.

With all of these facts and the applicable law, an in-concreto analysis would show that the claimant was correct in affirming that the defendant wrongfully rammed their vehicle,  furthermore, Chapter VI § 1-3 of the APD Handbook states that officer may enter locked civilian vehicles for the purposes of "Unblocking a road, pathway or an area officers are attempting to access.". This should serve as an aggravating factor in support of the claimant's suit as, per the cited section, there was an available remedy which would have respected server rules and would have not caused the damages for which the claimant is suing. Within this perspective, it may be affirmed that the defendant's actions were manifestly disproportionate to the impediment posed by the aircraft, and that their escalation to the most extreme remedy indeed caused them to be civilly/administratively liable.

With that said, the decision issued by @ Winters  was not by itself wholly disproportionate ; utilizing a comparative-law approach we can affirm that within certain civil-law systems there is a notion of an "abuse of rights" wherein a right or protection is utilized in bad faith as to cause harm or discomfort to the public order or other citizens.

I would like to bring light to article 2 of the Swiss Civil Code which states "Everyone is expected to exercise their rights and fulfill their obligations according to the rules of good faith. The manifest abuse of a right is not protected by statute.". Utilizing Swiss comparative-law it is possible to affirm that the claimant's actions constituted an abuse of rights as the airplane was deliberately placed in front of a roadway as to render difficult police actions without breaching the claimant's right to the preservation of their property. Furthermore, despite the court's admittedly belligerent approach to the claimant, multiple previous cases have seen an acceptance of similar remedies to comparable situations rendering the "HQ block exception" as a part of Olympus customary law.

Finally, XXIII §2 of the Altis Life Rules establishes that event disruption is a prohibited activity, and impeding APD officers from carrying out their legal duties within the context of a federal event could be considered a case of event disruption which would render the claimant's suit null and void.

    Conclusion

It can be reasonably argued that the decision of the court was borne out of an insufficient legal basis as to deal with situations such as these where a manifest abuse of rights causes a breach of other rules as to remedy the situation. While the court's decision is controversial yet acceptable, regulators should include further clarifications within APD and server rules either explicitly addressing situations where there is an abuse of rights, or explicitly permitting the "federal-event exemption" within the current framework of rules.

It might suck to get banned and an IA/not/etc. however, it is the fairest thing. If you break a server rule you get administrative action. If you decide to break rules whilst on cop you get punished on both sides of things.

It will be up to the Sr. APD on how harsh of a punishment they want to do after that. Whether its a note, suspension, removal, etc.

Previously people would get banned and punished on the APD. I recall in 2018 some guy failed a 3:1, yeti reported him, he got banned & I believe Decimus dealt with him on the APD side of things.

In 2017 I was a lone deputy fighting a full-on jail alone, being a smart fella I impounded the orca they had left on the bridge to escape... while they were trying to kill me.

My ass didn't know combat storing was a thing lmao, but I still got a ban + removed from deputy. It's a harsher system but it checks out and makes a lot more sense that having rule breaks be decided by a group with a vested interest in making sure the punishment is minimized when it's not an egregious case of misconduct.

  15. I come here mostly out of morbid curiosity, but this is some real shit.

The few times we played (it's Sploding btw) you were really chill and seemed to have a good head on your shoulders, which is overall a pleasant surprise when dealing with 2013 milsim police supervisors. It sucks it had to be this way, but take it from me, life on the retired side is sooo much better you'll barely miss the shenanigans. Shit, if the APD had more people like you when I was active maybe I would've stuck around a bit longer.

Go touch grass, learn to surf, build some cool engines or circuits or whatever it is you do and good luck on the professional rugby grind. If you ever want to bullshit again, my discord should be linked somewhere around here.

O7, enjoy the perm WL life, and keep your head high despite this bullshit, for the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Sooo I can land and fly fine, I just can't land in a small area someone tells me too... I've failed twice now due to not being able to land inside a small area... if it was as simple as juts knowing how to fly and land I'd pass....also why can you not use auto hover???????

Next time you're on with a pararescue or a Sr ask them to run you through some flight test practice. Landing in small areas can be tricky but if you switch to 3pp you can avoid most obstacles.

As for auto hover, it's a crutch that makes you fly with lead lined oven mitts. If you're in a tight spot and see that it's not safe to land, the "pull" from the program as you try to adjust will crash you, it's fine in certain cases, but the exam is about making sure you can fly decently well independently so if the shortcuts aren't effective or available you can still cope. Go into the main menu, tutorials (or is it scenarios) and do the base game flight school; it replicates the flight test decently well and should help you fix tight landings.
