fortunately i am fine where i am, im deep enough in suburbia to not be threatened but its the people 3-4km away in the foot hills who are suffering, we have awesome community spirit in this city so thousands of people have rallied together offering help, food, accom to all the victims...some shocking events can be rather inspiring at the same time...

Yeah same situation where I live. I live in a city of 300,000 but the foothills are only 10 minutes from my house. You should type in "High Park fire" in Google images so you can see how big that fire actually was. It's impossible to describe.. I remember I was coaching little league baseball and I noticed a tiny little smoke plume over the foothills. That same day that little smoke plume grew out of control. It's crazy how fast a fire can spread! I agree, it is awesome to...
