Are you planning on building this yourself? Based on the short dialogue here, you might want to do a bit more research in computer building. 2K budget is huge and would give you mostly top of the line stuff. My computer is probably worth $800 and it still way above average.

Is it purely for gaming, or will you be doing other resource intensive things? Reason I ask is, are you going for intel or AMD? How many monitors?

A good way of figuring out what basics you want -- RAM, processor, GPU, etc. -- is to look at the recommended requirements of a current max graphics game or soon to come out game.

Finally someone who follows the penny-pincher's 'How to not spend 3k on a computer' guide. Thank you for not leaving me as the only one. :*)
