Can someone explain sling loading to me?

I bought a taru with the intention of sling loading our Hemtt Transports, but the covered variants can't be slinged? Is that a bug or a server feature? You can load them in vanilla.

Server "feature". Only the non-covered variants can be lifted. I've never tried upgrading them but I've been told that upgrading covered ones past tier 2 make them able to be slung but again YMMV I haven't done it that way.
