you have to soft log if i remember correct, not sure. Had the same problem, but somehow solved it.

Soft log once after you purchase the house and you'll be good to go.

if youve upgraded to max storage you cant place a crate. its either 4 upgrades or 3 upgrades 1 crate, etc.

must be a bug then in your case. i was able to place 3 crates and fully upgrade a 4 crater
