Disputes Update Discussion

Recommended Posts

TLDR: excessive toxicity in disputes is likely to be used as a factor when deciding the outcomes of player reports and appeals. Additionally, in instances where a rule break is accidental or minor, if reasonable compensation is offered, administrative staff are instructed to be more lenient, including instances where 'No comp' or excessive compensation is demanded.

Dispute Guidelines & Grounds for Denial

Olympus staff will have a low tolerance for toxicity in disputes. Toxicity may result in reports/appeals being denied. Respectful parties in disputes have the potential to be rewarded with additional compensation or reduced ban lengths, at the discretion of the handling staff member.

If a player submits a dispute and is overly antagonistic, such as starting a dispute with personal insults, false claims, or unsubstantiated threats, like claiming ‘An admin said’ when the situation is untrue, the player's report or appeal for leniency that results from the dispute may be denied as a result of the conduct. In instances where both parties are being antagonistic, both players can be held to these standards.

If an incident is deemed accidental and reasonable compensation is offered but refused by a submitting player, and the reported player was not being antagonistic. A staff member handling the subsequent player report should issue reduced punishments or give warnings, and in extreme cases, can deny the player report.

in instances where unreasonable compensation is demanded or ‘no comp’ is stated. It is highly suggested that disputed players offer reasonable compensation. If reasonable compensation is not offered, the handling staff member is less likely to be lenient. Compensation does not need to be ‘forced’ for this section to take effect. It simply needs to be offered in earnest and given if an agreement is reached.

If an incident is deemed intentional or egregious, and a reasonable avenue for resolving the problem is offered by the victim but refused by the perpetrator, the handling staff member is likely to deny a request for a ban reduction.

Reasonable compensation will be defined as any action that compensates for the loss of items/vehicles and inevitable opportunities. Reasonable compensation generally includes a small additional concession for time lost or frustration, such as extra money, or an offer to revive and leave.

Basically being a toxic POS in disputes to pressure someone to comp you is going to result in a denied player report. Lying in the dispute telling someone they owe you $500k instead of $200k for your loadout can also result in the player report being denied. Experienced players know to call bullshit, but newer players get taken advantage of, and the server is a dispute abuse simulator. It's a change to make disputes less toxic.

Dispute PvP is one of the most stupid aspects to the server, limiting it as much as possible, and specifically stating that people who abuse it are gonna get punished, is good

Rexo +1 ing this comment made me remember my APD dispute crusade.

This update is also good because it mentions if reasonable compensation was offered but refused, then they should be given leniency.

I heavily abused no comp, and incidentally the fear that brought into APD officers during my time disputing them. I tried to be as polite, reasonable and logical as possible, but I was like a legendary and gentlemanly dark knight who lived by a code, was always polite, but showed no mercy in epic battle. But that was kinda retarded cuz if 1 guy makes a small mistake and tries to make up for it, he is completely cooked. But now that this is a specifically stated policy, APD officers can feel more at ease if they put in the genuine good faith effort to reasonably comp. Although I have no idea if this policy actually applies to the APD or only player disputes @ Rexo  can we get some clarification? thanks.
