I brought up something similar to this to @Jesse, its not as aids as News Team, but has sort of the same aspect. 

So a big aspect of this is having the same sort of immunity to getting messed with as medics do.  You know who else kinda sorta has that already?  Taxi drivers. Civs can rob you of your inventory, but they can't steal your taxi-skinned vehicles. Grab a taxi license, buy a taxi heli, put a [NEWS Channel 11] tag on yourself, and have at it.  For added benefit, state your intentions to create news footage in side chat when you log on. At the very least you're pretty much good to go covering any action that's not in a red zone -- and gangs who want some glory footage might let you hang around without engaging, especially if you do it often enough to be trusted.

@Jesse maybe even create a system for news team (both in the rules and in the game) that parallels the taxi system.  You wouldn't necessarily make any money from it, but there'd be a devoted texting thing (as a tip line) as with APD/R&R/Taxi, and you'd get the same vehicle theft immunity as with taxis. You'd get access to a news-skinned heli and van, and an exclusive shop on the big hill to buy some half decent armor vests (but no weapons). To offset any advantage of the vest access, throw in the WPL restriction on illegal harvesting.

In other words, it'd be exactly like the taxi license except news team skins, and access to armor, and no illegal harvesting. Invoicing to accept donations only. You're working for donations and fame and that's it.
