Well obviously the population of US citizens is greater than the population of an undocumented demographic. Not to mention quite a few agencies refuse to record information regarding legal status which makes for inconsistent data.

Take a stats course please.  Crime rates are often calculated as per capita. So if I took 100k people, how many of those people per 100k have committed a crime. You use per capita to remove the issue of how the greater population would impact calculating the stats. When you use per capita you can compare different places of different sizes on the same scale.

It's like pointing to New York and saying its the most dangerous city in the United States because the raw crime count is the highest. It makes no sense because in a city of 2 million people, 500 crimes that happen is minuscule considering the total population. But if you take some random red state county with a population of 10,000 and 500 crimes occur, that ratio is SIGNIFICANTLY higher and mean crime is occuring more commonly. Per capita stats fix this issue by giving you a rate of crime, the commonality of crime of a set population at a certain size.

2.) Texas undocumented immigrants are a special case and are unusually polite so the crime rate of undocumented immigrants in Texas will not be similar to immigrants in other states

Conclusion two may seem correct at first glance but when you consider most undocumented immigrants live in states like Texas, Florida, New York, California and Illinois and the crime rate within these states haven't really risen at any alarming rate, being at average or below average despite the increase in immigration, it is unlikely that undocumented immigrants have caused a raucous and therefore you can reasonably assume they offend at the same rates as US citizens or at the lower rates found in the study.
