  1. Tman, you never cease to amaze me... Jorbis would likely make a good mod, but you cannot force someone to become a mod, even if an exception was made. He would have to want to become a mod. Thats a time consuming commitment. With the re-implementation of the community team, he will likely have his hands full for the foreseeable future. Just sayin.
  2. People get impatient because they have no idea if anyone is coming to get them upon hitting the button to request a medic. To make things worse, I often accidentally lose side chat and don't realize it until I myself try to use it. If the person is asking on side chat, and they don't receive a response, they will likely re-log to save themselves time because they will probably assume that no one is coming. The medic request, and distance future, is also somewhat bugged. It usually conflicts and says no medics are online, even though there are. It also does not update the medics distance until we are within 7.5 km I believe? Personally, I think it should be fixed and amended to cover the entire map. I have also heard rumors that we may one day see a system where civs who request a medic will get an automated response advising them that a specific medics has received and accepted his or her request, which would give some piece of mind and likely decrease the amount of players that disconnect while we are enroute. I have also found, through personal experience playing medic, that most people are pretty patient when it comes to waiting. Most people just want a piece of mind that someone is actually coming to get them.
  3. Ohh boy. So this has been discussed in the past. Fluffy is correct in saying that medics can technically be sticklers and refuse to comply if the person does not have zipties. However, it is acceptable to RP the situation and enter the red zone without zipties, as long as the situation is RP'd in an acceptable manner. As was already stated, the guy does have a gun, which is usually compelling enough for me to enter a red zone. Ultimately its up to the medic to decide whether or not to enter the zone. However, for those that are trying to bait medics into hostage situations, we are allowed to use discretion to avoid a questionable situation if we feel the outcome will endanger ourselves or our equipment. We do not need to deny service to avoid providing a service, assuming the situation is volatile, or it is blatantly obvious what the people in the area intend to do, we can avoid the area. Us medics are spose to be illusive, magical, creatures, like a unicorn ;).
  4. Two things: 1. You still get $10,000 when you revive a person that logs off after requesting a revive. 2. The best way for you to avoid wasting your time is to view the logs, keep an eye on server messages, and check the cell phone to see whether or not the person is still online. That's what I do and it generally works. Either way you still get paid regardless of whether or not they log immediately after requesting. Simply mark the body in group chat and move on. Everyone seems to forget that this is a game. Don't forget the spirit of the game. Everyone gets themselves into a big stressed out hurry when playing. When your driving to a call you still get to drive with your lights and siren on. You also get to see all the interesting things that Altis Life has to offer. Not to mention that each minuet you play potentially gets you closer to your next promotion. So my advice to you is as follows. Try not to get angry when you finish the revive and nothing happens. Move on to the next call and keep on keepin on.

  9. Good luck Hades! Hopefully we will see you around.
  10. Videos such as these are rather distasteful and inappropriate given current world events. You should probably consider the fact that your video is depicting an act of terror, which is neither funny, nor entertaining. People are being executed in the same manner on a consistent basis. Also, Soldiers from many countries have fought and died trying to prevent these atrocities. Thats probably why your video was removed as it was rather inappropriate. I would think that this would go without saying but I guess not.
  11. Are you a Carlito?
  12. Well the ones that watched Independence Day should know... Now stop being a downer on my thread!
  13. Most look good, just a few look a little off. Mostly the ones near the big boat.
  14. Its till a cool bridge Warfare. Its just scary as hell being near it! The oil rig is also awesome! Just FYI, some of the handrails are pretty misaligned on that thing.
  15. Heres a fact that I think a lot of people forget. Olympus only has one owner, Poseidon. What he says goes. If he doesn't want something, rest assured, it wont happen. I have had ideas that, in my opinion, are the most amazing ideas ever conceived. But, just because I think its amazing, doesn't in fact make it amazing. Consider another scenario. If everyone got exactly what we wanted 100% of the time we would all find something else to complain about. Its human nature. No matter how good it is we all think it could be better. Most people dont appreciate what they have until its gone. Then its often too late. I get the complaint that things dont always change when people complain. Sometimes it also just appears that way. Not all changes take place instantly. Sometimes we all need to have a little patience. Be happy that the staff of Olympus do listen to the community. Nothing says they have to listen or offer any of the services they do. I was told something once the curbed my expectations a little. It was something to the extent of, "If its not good enough for you, you are free to go make your own server". I though about that and realized that I cannot make my own server, nor did I want to. I wanted to stay at Olympus and do what I could to try and make it better. So I did. Id like to think I have improved things, if just a little. Point being, no one is forced to play here. People are free to come and go as they please. Those who truly want change should do what they can to help facilitate change by contributing to the community in a constructive manner. Everybody has strengths and weaknesses and brings something unique to the community. Some more unique then others. Some of ya'all are just freaks, which is not bad. It dosent matter who you are or what you do. Everyone is essentially equal while online playing Arma or typing on the forms. Thers a song out there, you can shine no matter what your made of? Something like that. Shine away mother f*@kers!
  16. Its true man, dont throw it all away over a rank dispute, especially if alcohol was involved. Olympus is great because of two things: Dedicated staff, and all the bat shit crazy, awesome, players that call Olympus home . Moob, free up your IM so I can send you a message.
  17. Donations dont equal staff getting paid. The generosity of people like Ebzekaro have helped Olympus continue to run servers. Unless you have something productive to say, again, keep it to yourself. Those times are truly impressive Moob. I cannot deny the fact that you have a lot of time vested on Olympus and APD. I cannot comment or speculate as to what happened or why it happened. Sometimes things just happen. At the end of the day Ace is in charge of APD and he is the final authority. Though, I am a firm believer that it is never to late. Perhaps you guys should get on TS and just talk it out. Its hard to do the man thing and physically fight it out. Some of the best friends I have in this world have punched me in the face. Sometimes guys just need to fight. Its of course up to both of you to make that happen.
  18. Also consider that no one on the Olympus staff gets paid. They all have dedicated tons of time to try to make Olympus better. People cannot expect them to take abuse or allow toxic threads to continue to spiral out of control. I know the threads are on another level right now. People are very excitable at the moment :l Wannabe2015, please keep comments like that to yourself.
  19. Take a second to really think about what Olympus is. Olympus is an amazing community full of great people! On the days I cannot play I find myself checking the forms multiple times a day to see whats going on. Olympus, IMO, is a very dynamic and special place. Ive been playing online for over 15 years and none of the other communities I have come across came even close to providing what Olympus does. I dont understand why there is so much animosity and frustration out there these days. Poseidon releases updates for the server on a regular basis, which means there are always things to look forward to. Hades spends countless hours reading and responding to what people say on the forms. Odin and Ace do their best to run their respective departments. The rest of the admins spend a ridiculous amount of time and effort working on tickets that people take the time to submit. These services are almost impossible to find anywhere else for free. Its also amazing that Olympus allows everyone the opportunity to become a moderator, admin, cop, or medic. As far as not listening, many of the changes that take place are at the request of the community. Many people say that the admins are not listening, which couldnt be farther from the truth. People just need to accept the fact that not every single idea or suggestion can be implemented. Not everyone is going to be happy, no matter how many changes are made, such is life. I hate to say it but a lot of people in this community are being insanely ungrateful as of late. I get that things happen and people feel wronged. That sucks, it really does. Its understandable to want to vent to a degree. Nothing is more valuable then the time we invest into doing things that we love and are passionate about. But, sometimes things happen and there is nothing we can do about it. We all live and we learn and we move on. Personally I love Olympus. Sure I have felt wronged here. I have also been put in my place on more then one occasion. I listened to the advice I was given, I got over it, and I moved on. I also still think this is an amazing place with truly dedicated people. Call it ass kissing, call it whatever you want. If you have something negative to say please keep it to yourself on this thread. Every time you want to come on the forms and rant about something that pissed you off take a second to think of the countless hours of fun and entertainment that playing on Olympus has provided for you, for free I might add. Any money paid toward the server was done willingly as a donation to help the server continue to provide fun and entertainment to all. Dont hate, appreciate.
  20. They locked it because it was no longer productive...
