  1. If you don't like the role or the items that come with it then leave the role. You seem to complain more often then not about things regarding R&R. We have put alot of time into the role and still have plans for more. Adding things that will cause more issues is not what we plan to do. Ya it might be cool to see a R&R player with that helmet but we don't want to encourage players to target R&R because of that cool look. While you may have no issue with having a target on your back most players that play the role don't.
  2. Why would someone leave a server when your given 15 mil to start, allowed to exploit, break rules and allowed to do what you want because your friend is a Dev. That would simply be dumb. So yes I bring the point up because the players that left wanted to take the easy road instead of working for there stuff. They got in trouble for breaking rules here so decided to go someplace that they could get away with it. With that said if you look at what I have stated I did NOT say this was the only reason. I have stated there are also other reasons why people have left Regarding the gang issues, We didn't make anything to persay cater just to gangs. Gangs are part of the game so we have to add in features for them just as we do for the other roles. The "Warzone" was added in to help offset gangs being bored and messing with the new or solo players. It gives them a place to go stupid mode on each other without getting in trouble. It was added to help give solo players a break as well. If the gangs are busy in the Warzone they won't be messing with people doing legal stuff as much. Regarding your ideas, some have been discussed and others have been said no to. There is always a reason behind why we make a decision on something. We don't just do it because we want to say no. We don't cater to any specific group unless there is a major balance issue. R&R has been given alot of love from a Dev standpoint. In reality R&R has had much more done to it then any other role in the game. You say R&R can't get Heli helmets, R&R is not a combative role so they don't need them just as they don't need Hellcats. Having the nice looking things puts a target on your back. While there are rules in place some people simply don't care and will still try to get things they shouldn't. If it isn't something that is needed other then just for a cosmetic reason and will cause issues we won't add it in. R&R gets towing and revives along with almost 95% immunity to being killed. APD gets there specific rules and limited guns. Civs get the big ass guns and loadout options. Again it about what fits best with the roles and balance.
  3. I'm just going to add my 2 cents in here. In the past MC had other gangs to contend with. This meant they left the smaller groups alone. With the loss of other large gangs MC no longer has this to occupy there time. They have resorted to the smaller groups at times as well as hitting the APD alot more. Now as I said in another post before the population loss isn't due to just MC but it does play a role. Anytime you have a large controlling group of players that can run things it's going to be noticed alot more. We have had this happen in the past with other large gangs as well. The only way to really resolve the issue is to get another group or gang that can contend with the large gang. With that said there are other factors that are also effecting the population. We lost a large amount of players do to another server coming in and buying players. We have bugs that need to be fixed. We have not been as active with server events. All of this has nothing to do with MC and so again the blame can't be put solely on that gang. We are working on adding in staff so the servers are more moderated. Poseidon is working on getting the bugs fixed but the Arma DLC update hit us hard. We now have a way for the community team lead to host events so more should start happening. As players begin to come back in the population will pick back up. We all as a community need to remember that in order to stay a community we have to act like one. If in-game your merc'n each other that is fine but when outside that time keep it helpful and respectful and people will stick around.
  4. Apps can still be submitted. We never close them. It more a matter if that person will get accepted.
  5. Things like this are not allowed. IDC if its written or not. The last re-write of the rules gave the staff alittle more leeway on the rules so if players are just being completely toxic and ruining the community we can get ride of them. RP and vulgarness are 2 different things. The thing people have to understand is where the line is.If you wouldn't say it to someone right in front of you then you probably shouldn't say it here either. Now before anyone says well this is an RP server I wasnt to state this is in regards to sexual, racist, terrorist, ect type talk. At the end of the day it will be up to the staff if they feel someone has crossed the line but we have made it pretty clear where the line is. When I go through and work on a rule regarding this I'll try to include examples to make it easier to understand. Keep in mind however we are not going to ban someone just because they may call you a bitch or a fag unless its a constant thing. It is a game and with that it going to come some mouthy 12 yr olds. If you truly feel it is wrong then def let the staff know if in-game or make them tickets. Even if it gets denied it doesn't mean we won't keep an eye on that player to see if they are doing it to others as well.
  6. Right now the only staff that is actually away is Jendrak and he is the event admin along with the designer. With that said with him missing the only thing effected is the events. While that is still something it doesn't effect tickets and whatnot. The requirements for staff are in place not just because of staff but because of players. We don't allow staff to be in player gangs because then players assume there is bias and will let them gang members get away with things. It has more to do with appearance then actual play. The staff themselves are trusted enough that it most likely would not be an issue but the way players perceive things is a different story. As for being "God Like trust level" it is something we do require. There is alot of damage a player can do if they got there hands on the backend stuff. When someone new joins they are limited with what they can do but even that little amount could cause massive issues. Its also hard to just assign certain people to certain things. We can't just add a staff member and say handle comp tickets. If they do comp tickets then they need access to giving out money, that means they need access to an in-game admin menu or our datebase tools. We could even say let them handle just player reports but then again they need access to our RCON tool to issue bans. Arma is a pain when it comes to permissions and so it may sound easy to say "Just give this person this to do" when in fact it can't be done that way. So again trust goes along way when it comes to being a staff member. We understand alot may be willing to help but there are also those who say they will help only to cause issues which has happened in the past with staff.
  7. If you get a screenshot of it and hand it over to the APD you would be surprised how they might RP it. Granted it isn't something we allow but the APD also can't always know why you killed someone. If you can show them why it was done type thing then they might go a bit more lenient on you. As for putting in some rules regarding this type of situation, I'll try to get something written up that covers it for the most part. While it isn't a written rule it is toxic and we do ban players for that. At the top of the rules it does state players that are toxic or disruptive can receive bans. I would consider this extremely toxic and disruptive.
  8. LMFAO, yes and you can even add a suppressor to it.
  9. Dili get it and come run with the real Olympus Crew.
  10. @Moob I wasn't trying to just pinpoint your gang as I know other gangs have done the same thing. I was merely pointing out a situation that was fresh in my head. I was using it as an example of what also adds to population loss. I wasn't trying to say it is you or your gangs fault solely. What I was getting at in a nutshell is if a large group of players end up camping solo or small groups to much it will simply push people away. I'm not going to lie however, we have gotten multiple reports that you guys like to push the limit on things but as noticed we have not seen anything with you guys breaking rules and thats why no bans have been issued. Sorry again if you feel I was just pinpointing you , you just were a fresh example. The economy is a bit tough but not to the point were you can't make money. I myself as well as all the other staff all started at the same spot as the next player. We did our little runs and built up money. While some stuff was harder then the next we were able to make money. I myself was running around in a HEMMIT with no gun and solo for the first few days and made enough money to get my feet off the ground. What people need to do is not try to jump head into everything. They can't expect to instantly get the high end guns and vehicles. While some tweaks may be needed I honestly still feel it is better then it was pre-wipe. We have made some changes to the pricing of things and are still keeping an eye on things. Regarding the staff, we do have an assignment of sorts. The admins of course handle all the bigger things. The Mods are the ones who kinda sit between the players and the admins. They are the ones you will see more often in-game and will be able to answer questions more often. We have less things for the Mods to do as we want them to focus on the playerbase while the admins focus more on the admin side of things if this makes sense. I'll use myself as an example here to try and clear it up. I used to play alot and once I became the head admin my play time went down. Now to some people it may be seen as I am inactive when in reality I am still doing things. One thing that takes hours for me to do it is log checking. Now all the admins can do this but the logs can be a pita to understand sometimes so there are certain aspects that I do instead of making the other do. Now I'm still around but I'm just not in-game doing things. Other staff do kinda the same thing in a sense. When it comes to tickets we all share them and work on them as a team. Sometimes we have a crapload of em and other days very few. Each ticket takes time to read, watch and then do whatever it is we need to do regarding that ticket. To most it may seem an easy task but in reality it is pretty time consuming. As for Mod apps, I can say we currently have 3 applications on hold. We are currently training in a few as well and as time goes on we will hopefully get more Mod apps in with qualified players.
  11. The "most notable" gang swapped server because they were offered in-game money to do so. They were also pissed off they got bans because they broke rules and we were not willing to let them slide just because of there size. As stated before we would rather have quality over quantity. What alot of people don't see is what is done on the backend of things. We do more then just tickets, we deal with all sorts of other things and we do it for free. We do it because we have a goal for the community and want to stick with that goal. We don't want to just be another server out there. With that comes getting burnt out as well. We need our own personal time to have fun or there won't be any staff to run the servers and in turn no servers. As said before Mod tickets are open but not just anyone will get the spot. We have slowly been filling the spots but we are also not going to just grab 10 people and say have fun. We get a couple, run em through the paces, get any issues resolved then move on to the next group. We have been burnt in the past with Devs as well as Mods, event an Admin so yes we are going to do it carefully. We have tried cheaper servers and they don't work. Players want larger slots so in turn its going to take better hardware. Altis Life is a hog on system resources and with low end hardware it is very noticeable. While we may have various donations from various people we dont have a subscription of sorts. When a donation is made by someone it's not like we can count on another one from them the following month as some players don't do this. So answer your question, yes all donations are used strickly for the Olympus community servers. There was one time in which the staff received a small payout as it was requested by a donator to do this. Other then that no money has ever been used for anything outside the community servers. So if not all the money is used in one month it stays in an account and is used the next month or when it may be needed. We don't receive set amounts each month so we can't just "waste" the donations on things. We got a Wasteland server because the community wanted one. The goal of Olympus is not to just be about 1 game. When Olympus was started it was meant to be a community of gamers that played multiple games. Wasteland just happens to be one of the first we are pushing. If noticed it has actually done pretty good in regards to activity from players. So with that said if we can in the future we will also try to bring new games to the community. Now we don't plan to do it until we have enough staff to watch over everything but it is one of our goals. Now to the rest of the posters in this thread. This is from me and not the opinion of the other staff but we all bust our asses to help out the best we can. Are we understaffed, yes and we know this and are working on it. Do we need more features, yes and we are working on it. Are there bugs that need to be addressed, yes and again we are working on it. We have been shit on multiple times in the past and we don't want to risk it again. When we let someone in as a staff member we want to make sure they will stick it out and understand how to do this. People have brought up how Asylum has so many staff and it works out, well keep in mind they get thousands of dollars in donations each month and can afford to pay there staff, we do not have this luxury. Rules are a freaking pain in our asses and the only reason we add, modify, change them is when they need to be. Multiple times its been stated, "Well its not in the rules so you can't do it". Well because of comments like this we need to add it to the rule-set. Since the OP is pulling his info from Ayslum I'll go ahead and point something out. If you go and read there rule-set it is fairly simple and straight forward. This in turn leaves it solely up to the staff member that is dealing with whatever issue. If that staff is having a bad day he is gonna shit on you with a ban and there is nothing to stop em from doing it. We have our rules in place so we are all on the same page and to give players something to reference to prevent any issues. If we could just have players that played the game as it is meant to be played we wouldn't have even half the rules we have. As for people who constantly think we do nothing, then all I can say is go ahead and leave. We do what we can to try and make this community a fun place for everyone. We will not be able to please each and every person but we do what we can. If you want to think we are lazy of don't care then that is fine. Go ahead and go play on them other servers, you will either like it or not. Our populations isn't only due to features or bans. It also has to do with the type of players that are on the servers. No matter what kind of economy or features we have if a gang does nothing but harass players, rob, steal, ect all the time then people will not stay. If someone gets on and all that happens is they are hit hard by a group then of course they are going to leave. I witnessed this firsthand the other-day when MC decided they didn't want to play on server 2 since they pushed so many onto server 1. They get on and instantly start causing a ruckus. IT went from robbing the fed, directly into doing terror and then continuing onto the players on the server. While we don't want to tell players how to play everyone needs to understand if all you do is hit hard every-time your on no one is going to want to deal with it and in turn they will simply find a new place to go which has happened. Now again I'm not saying it is just on the large gangs but it doesn't just fall on the staff. Everyone in the community should work on being a community and helping out the noob players until they get settled. I'm not saying hold there hands but don't rob a guy in a quad at the peachfield with a group of 6-7 players holding Mk18's. If someone has a question then just try to answer it or say nothing at all. Don't be toxic. As for ideas being brought up. If they are brought to us in a respectable manner we will look into them. Just because we say no does not mean we don't want the feature even. Sometimes there are just things we can't do. Sometimes it's simply because we can't do them atm because we are working on other things. Sometimes it may even be just because it doesn't make sense to have it or it might not look good. We never say no just to say no. Just because another server has a feature doesn't always mean we can add them. Again Asylum has multiple Devs that have had alot of time to do what they do. Poseidon has done a good job getting us this far but it doesn't mean he can do everything or the same thing another Dev is able to do. So with that I hope I've cleared up a few things for everyone.
  12. While it is not a written rule persay we do ban players for being extremely vulgar to female or males. Now we aren't going to ban someone if they call you a bitch or a fag once but if it constantly happens then we will. We have also made it clear that some things simply are not allowed such as racial slurs, sexual comments such as rape, calling ppl sluts & cunts, ect. For people making these comments, get a screenshot, submit a ticket and they will most likely be permanently gone from our servers. We have very little tolerance for players who go to the extreme like this as it is just toxic. If you have video of it that is even better as it shows the whole situation. Regarding APD, if a players if running around and being abusive they can issue them a ticket and if they continue to do it they can send em to jail for it. No player that is whitelisted is allowed to make such comments. If they do and they are caught they will be removed from the role and most likely blacklisted.
  13. As this topic seems to have jumped between AL and Wasteland I'll try to cover both. Wasteland basically has almost everything that Arma allows in it. You just have to find it or goto the shops and buy it. Anything outside the default Arma items is not in and most likely will not be as it will only require players to download extra things. In turn this would actually hurt the playerbase since most people don't want to download extra things, they just want to click, join and play. Altis Life is a bit more tricky. Most of the vehicles that are not stupid OP are already in. There is a varety of vehicles in but we won't add in things such as an ifrit HMG. To many vehicles like this just cause issues and don't add much to the RP scene. If your wanting to use them type of vehicle then play the Wasteland server. As for clothing again most of the defualt Arma clothing items are already in the game. While there may be a few things not in there is still a fairly large amount of different clothing options. Adding textures to clothing is not something we can just go and do. It adds alot to the mission file as well as taking time to create and code the textures into the game. While it may seem like something simple to do it really isn't. Its take a fairly large amount of work to get the textures in. The size of the mission file is the other aspect. To big and you feel like your downloading a completely new Mod and again players don't tend to want to do this for the most part. As for guns, there are certain ones that will not be added. For example we don't want snipers, while you may think it is fun it is pretty game breaking when you think about it's uses on a RP server. Again if ya want to Snipe we have the Wasteland server for it. Some of the smaller caliber weapons we could possibly look into however if we knew what it was the players wanted.
  14. Muhahahah, must mean the banhammer is working as intended.
  15. It saddens me to think I no longer have Gary's floating Hunter saved somewhere.
  16. No one is a hostage at this point. However in a case such as this if a person fired on the Heli pilot without any warning and he returns fire he is allowed to do this. The person who began firing is also considered to be RDM'n. Anyone else to fire before the Heli pilot fires is also RDM'n since no message was sent. In a perfect world the other 4 players involved would know not to shoot since a message was not sent but as we all know it doesn't always work like this. In the case that the OP stated the players were already, clearly taken hostage whereas in the situation you ask Moose no one is actually a hostage yet.
  17. Once again we used to allow this and it became an issue and so the rule was changed to prevent the issue. As simple as this, if you rob someone then no one in your group involved in the situation can kill the hostage. If your buddy decides to kill the hostage then you should probably look to playing with someone else so you don't get in trouble.
  18. You may not be able to control them but in certain situations such as hostage taking if doing it in a group then it falls on everyone involved. We do it this way to prevent abuse. In the past people would in fact take someone hostage, rob them, then have there friend kill the hostage to skirt the rules. Due to this we made the rule that it applies to the whole group. If your playing with friends and your friends don't know or understand the rule then it's best to explain it to them or not play with them. In the situation the OP is referring to the hostages fully complied with the hostage takers and were still killed. There game was ruined due to a group hostage situation. There was in fact a couple simple things they could have done to actually prevent issues but they didn't do that.
  19. If you take a player hostage and rob them in any way you must release them after the robbing, you may not kill them after robbing them. If you DO NOT rob the player then you may kill them while following the normal server RP rules. ?This does not mean you can make a person surrender then just shoot them, you must make some reasonable demand that they do not follow or agree to. ?This applies to group hostage situations as well. A member of your party may not rob a player then another member kill that hostage.
  20. Ya it doesn't make a huge difference to be honest. I just like to push my parts...lol
  21. We did actually have a modded server at one point. We took ideas from players and added it into that server. The issue however came down to once we set it up not many players used it. It's hard to get players to download multiple Mods just to play on a server. After trying it out for a month or so it was decided to drop it since it just didn't have a decent amount of players to use it. The taskforce radio has been discussed in regards to our current AL servers since it doesn't require each person to download it to use but we haven't had the time to test out if it will cause any issues or not.
  22. Shhhh you weren't suppose to tell anyone...
