Attention to Laptops with GTX Based cards

According to NVIDIA support, desktop recording is not supported in mobile cards; so if you are using a mobile card (GTX 860m, etc) do not run in windowed if you intend to use shadowplay.

There isn't instant replay with obs. People have used play.tv I believe

Thats because they use a technical name for it, making it pretty hard to identify. Its called the "replay buffer", because of this most people dont even know it exists.
