i just downloaded it without disabling anything and i didn't get any virus or anything.

Do not pirate anything, its really not worth the time and risk. I personally use Adobe Premiere Pro since I have the full Adobe Suite, but if you're looking for something that is free, Windows Movie Maker isn't terrible, it'll get the job done.
