How to type when dead?

How do you type when you're dead? I try to do it how i'd type normally and i can't, asked other and they said its just how u normally type. I changed my controls preset to Industry Standard, idk if that has anything to do with it but lemme know pls

You cant type in side-chat when your dead. You talk in a death chat with everyone whose dead. Your text shows up in white/gray.

Side chat is disabled when your dead. You can still type in group chat and "death chat" aka direct chat which every dead person can read.
