I think you're getting moddern day Christians confused with the Amish. At least that's what it sounds like. There are 14 different sub groups of Christianity. Sure some Christians might be strong in their views but most are normal people just working to put food on the table and support their family. The three things they love most in life is god, family, and country. As long as you don't threaten either of those three things you have nothing to be scared of.

Just food for thought, undocumented immigrants have the lowest reported crime rate compared to both legal immigrants and U.S.-born citizens.
