Shadowplay needs to be manually turned on for each new game you play, after that it should be always on for that game as long as NVIDIA Geforce Experience is running.  The only downside is the recordings are high quality and can result in large files.  My settings are currently to record audio, medium video quality, in game resolution at 30 fps at 5 minutes per video and the file sizes range from 400-700MB each.  If space isn't an issue then you're golden.

turns out I can't get that to work either so I guess overwolf it is. something with the NVIDIA won't work in my computer and the other one wont let me hear sound from my headset nor will it pick up me talking from the mic and overwolf solves both problems. my internet sucks ass so if it records 30 fps it's recording at double or triple what I'm usually running at on average.
