Video Card / Monitor

Recommended Posts

So I am looking to upgrade my video card and monitor, but I don't want to spend $100000000 to do it.

Currently I am running an old school 22 inch monitor (nothing special) and a GT640.  I prefer Nvidia as I have never had much like with ATI in the past.

Suggestions?  I know ARMA is CPU heavy, and I am good there...recently upgrade that.  But I need a better video card for other games that AREN'T badly coded like Arma lol.

If you wanna stick with an Nvidia card and don't want to have to sell you soul/wife then go for a 960/970/980 .  As of right now the difference between the 980 and 970 isn't worth the price difference and the 970 isn't a bank breaker.

I would suggest from around a 750 TI or a Geforce GTX 770 and maybe an Asus monitor if you want good Response Time and good Graphics.

Monitor wise...this ok?  I have honestly never bought a monitor. Always took hand me downs and throw aways.  Just got newer ones when they were flat and bigger then the one I had lol.

Or should I shell out another $20 and get http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GW2760HS-27-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00ITORMDC/

OMG too bad I don't have like $5000 to just buy a computer exactly the way I want it lol!

If you can live with the monitor you've got, then how much would you be willing to shell out on a video card? If it is within your budget, then I'd suggest an EVGA GTX 780Ti.

Finally got my BenQ 27" and the GTX 960 in.  What do you guys think?

Hows the performance upgrade with the new card? Have you tested streaming yet? Otherwise the setup looks sick.

Well before I was running about 25 FPS in arma (and that is out in the middle of no where running standard).  I get about 200fps in the same spot now and that  is on Ultra.  Streaming looks a TON better now.

The 960 is bad performance for its price. 970 is more for people on a budget. 980 is just slightly better than the 970. I'd go for the 970 if you arent gonna be doing anything special. As for a monitor.. BENQ ALL THE WAY

I got the one Ares suggested. The G1 Gaming. Pretty good reviews and right at my budget limit.

I upgraded from a 640 so it seems pretty good to me lol.
