Exploiting

What’s the severity of a ban for using the known exploit to look through the walls of a building to gain tactical advantages?

I’m not going to give instruction on how to do it but I’m pretty sure everyone who plays the game enough knows what I’m talking about.

For context, my buddy and I each have a pov of two people clearly exploiting to gain tactical advantages. Both individuals have been unban within a few hours. This sets a precedent that was surprising to me.

Ban times are progressive. The length of an exploiting ban depends on how many times a player has been banned in the past 2 months and how long the last ban was. The policy is on our Wiki at https://wiki.olympus-entertainment.com/wiki/Ban_Times

The first ban is 1 day, the 2nd is 2 days, 3rd is 3 days, 4th is 5 days, and so on per that policy. 

Bans can be appealed, and leniency can be given by the banning admin. The policies for that are on the same page.

Thanks for sharing. So the odds of these individuals being caught exploiting in combat like this is extremely unlikely since they can do it behind a wall. Is the moral of the story, exploit but don’t get caught too much? It’s super easy to do and you can do it to any wall. The whole game revolves around combat, so it’s just unfair that the ban is so light for this.
I am not the type to do runs or exploit, but if I was I would sit in processor looking through walls the entire time to make sure no one is sneaking up lol….

No, it was two individuals from hot shots but they were part of a larger group at the time.

Unfortunatly your not crazy off base. It is pretty easy for players to get away with wall-peaking like that without getting caught, and yeah, smart players understand that if they only get caught doing it a little, punishments will be pretty light, but anyone caught doing it with any kind of regularity gets identifed and leeway becomes harder to argue for. 

I will say we do spectate periodically and will live ban people we catch backpacking to gain unfair advantages. Backpacking and DPI are somewhat just a part of the fun, even if it's not fun at all.

We catch most repeat offenders due to player reports from people like you tho, so just because your one report may not have had the result you might be hoping for doesn't mean you haven't made that person a lot more watched, and less likely to get reductions in the future, and it is appreciated.

I was under the impression that this was no longer done/frowned upon after the mighty/rexo spectate gate.

We moved the bar around a little, but admins are still allowed to spectate and live-ban for backpacking, especially if they are known backpackers or if we are getting reports about someone backpacking. But generally, admins shouldn't be looking for people to ban, and instead, look to resolve issues or correct behavior.

That would be a very harsh punishment for such a simple exploit. Everyone and their grandmother would be permed if we enforced it that harshly.

staff have been trolling lately, handing out warnings and 4 hour bans just to keep the pop up. It’s either that or @ ZeroBlade is so short he can’t see the video evidence.

how are you chiming in on this when you get outta every ban handed to you cause of who you know. even when the bans are extremely valid?
