@ Olsson I appreciate the compliment. I agree that significant differences in interpretation are a major issue. This particular rule was a very tricky one that we went back and forth on a few times. While far from perfect, I think this was the best idea we came up with, but I'm also sure some will disagree. My hope is that in practice, this new rule will have a somewhat opposite effect, and limit what was a bit of a wild west of admin interpretations, to something better grounded.
Before this verbiage, admins have said there is a limit to engagement range, but the limit was 100% up to each admin. Some would say it's 1km, some would say it's 10km, and the rules themselves implied Sofia and Sofia hospital were far enough apart to be considered different locations, which was insane.
We discussed setting the engagement range to 5km hard stop, 1km hard stop, or no engagement range, and the interpretation we ended up with all had significant problems.
The 1km range seemed way too short. It's not uncommon to titan someone 2km away or to end up in a fight that spans 1km, and we didn't want people measuring engagement ranges; it felt tedious and unintuitive.
5KM covered pretty much everything very well, but it meant that an engagement in Neo could carry all the way to Athira which felt a little extreme.
Everything between 1km and 5km just felt like adjusting those sliders between the two but never really resolving the problem of too big of an engagement range makes it feel like a player could get away wit killing someone very much not involved in an engagement, and too short meant it was easy to break the rules while trying to play fair.
The admin's discretion interpretation minimized what was being changed because it's more or less how it worked before. It allowed long engagements and specified that engagements shouldn't be used to target someone 2-3km away who really can't involve themselves with the original situation that started an engagement.
We are going to keep an eye on it to see if it works the way we want or if it causes more issues. I have no doubt there will be some problems, but hopefully, it's a net improvement over what was. Like everything, though, if you or anyone has suggestions on how to improve the rules, feel free to send them along to myself or a Civilian Council rep, and if they have merit, we will discuss them.-

Why was this reworded for the only entrance? Say a group has blocked off gate 1 why would I have to drive entirely around the fed and drive into a choke point instead of being able to ram it?
Not only does this bottleneck the APD from pushing specific spots at banks/feds, but also makes certain spots completely unfair in fights.
- Ramming a vehicle blocking the only entrance is not RVD

@ Gwate I know you maybe youi dont know but you cannot COMBAT IMPOUND during an active event. Sure let me just slowly ram into it while I get shot out by some freak holding a dearstand. I cant pull GHAWKS and If I could what justice would that serve at a fed where there is 0 REASON to use the guns and on top of that AA is almost always hacked. So please before you simmer up and start talking a whole bunch of bullshit read the APD Handbook or apply for a whitelist and play the faction.
Sure Per the APD handbook I am allowed to run up, slimjim keys, and move it but at what cost. I would die every wave on repeat attempting that. Again I dont expect you to understand it as you dont have a APD whitelist but you cant sit here and call me salty for questioning the impact a change may have on an entire faction.
Also from prior playtime if something was blocking a gate for any reason we had FULL will to ram it and blow it up as it is preventing progress in the event. Hope this helps! -
@ David Miller thank you for clearing that up.

I'm too lazy to make fun of APD today. So I'll just call you a retard

Your telling me that a CLEARLY tapped ghost hawk in between two buildings with no clear way to push it forward enough to put the rotors far enough up or have space to roll it high enough to deploy the gear and ramming into it until it blows up is not VDM?
Youre telling me I can drive a hatchback and ram into any ghost hawk landed at an APD HQ and blow it up and say that i’m “Attempting to steal it” and it’s not a rule break?
I’ve been a cop for almost half a decade and i’ve seen 1… just 1 full tapped hawk between two buildings get taken off and that’s strictly based on the advanced flight model you used to be able to use.
- Accidentally blowing up a helicopter while trying to flip it over to lockpick and steal is allowed.

This was made a rule by CC awhile ago but then, and I fully admit fault, the change was very poorly communicated. There were some PSAs and stuff. We are just trying to make it clearer.
