Headphone suggestions

Recommended Posts

I'm currently on vacation spending a month in the Netherlands and I brought my laptop, mouse and headset but on the first day here the bag with my headset and mouse was stolen along with a few irreplaceable things.

Since It looks like the bag won't get found or returned I need some suggestions for a good headset or pair of headphones, my old headset was a logitech worth around 130 USD so I'm looking for something at a similar price range, a mic is preferred but not required and it can be USB or a normal 35mm connection. I mainly want durability and a good audio quality for surround and footsteps etc.

I'm just rebuying my mouse since it was cheap and I absolutely loved it but I'd like some suggestions on headphones or a headset, also my parents want to buy it at a brick and mortar type place so I'm looking for something below 120 EUR and not too hard to find at a normal tech store.

Sorry to hear that man-- sucks big time...

I use these for my PC. You cant use them with your phone unless you plug it in your mix amp but for games, these are my no. 1 choice. They are USB and are fully surround sound, which is something you won't find in most aux headphones like the cloud series. At just under 200 USD these things are a steal, and provide the same audio quality as their more expensive A50 counterpart (just with wires). They also work well for streaming or having multiple audio sources connected to one pair of headphones. Also very durable!

Hyper X Cloud II's

In your price range and quite amazing.

+1 for Hyper X. I have the hyper x cloud flight and they're awesome. Wireless and the battery usually lasts about 10 hours. Highly recommend.

Audio Technica ATH-M50x hands down in that price range if you want stuff that sounds good.

  • Closed design = not noisy for others and quiet for you.
  • 38ohm impedance means they sound good without an amp
  • Removable chord
  • Comfy

If you need a mic on the headset, then the new Sennheisers are definitely the way to go, but they'll set you back $220. https://en-us.sennheiser.com/gaming-headset-pro-gsp-600

Remember, like with Gaming keyboards, the "Gaming" Part is usually a gimmick. I am not saying that all "Gaming" products are overpriced for what they are, but generally, getting audiophile headphones will usually beat out their "Gaming" counterparts for the price.

Go to https://www.head-fi.org/ and check the headphones you are thinking about getting. The Audio Techinica AD700x Air ones are amazing headphones for the price, however they are open air, and while that does make for a beautiful sound stage, they let in a lot of noise from your room. They are great for positional audio, and will give you great mids and highs, the only downfall being that they lack a little in the bass department.

If I were you, I would ask myself whether open or closed back would be better; whether you will have a lot of noise in the room you are using them in, and if you expect that, then the sound blocking aspects of closed back would be better. If wherever you plan on using them is going to be quieter, then you cant go wrong with open air.

As for the best of both worlds, I would get the Game Ones or Game Zeros by sennheiser

Guessing I'm going to get downvotes for this one but I use some wireless razer man o wars and they're honestly really good for everything besides it's shitty durability, which in my case, I don't really care about because I have some easily exploitable best buy warranty that just gives me a brand new headset after I either accidentally or purposefully break the headset every 5-6 months. Also the most comfortable headset I have ever worn and I will never go back to wired because it feels so much better to be able to get up and legit walk downstairs to the kitchen and still be able to talk to my friends just fine, and not to mention that my legs and head don't feel locked in place from all of those times I'd step on the headset wire and that shit would go flying off of me. If you aren't neccessarily a tryhard gamer and want something for more casual use, I would definitely reccomend these as long as you can somehow find some sort of warranty/protection for them

^ a lot of people know him for his mouse reviews and he pretty much says that he would put them high up in the charts as one of his favorite headsets if it wasn't for the headband breaking every now and then.
