  1. 1. What does 6/2(1+2)=?

6 divided by 2 equals 3 then you do the inner parenthesis second adding 1 + 2 equaling 3 then you do the out parathesis times the inner to get a total of 9. Now @King I require money for teaching basic algebra

It's one. Follow PEMDAS (Parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction). So first do (1 + 2), so that equals 3 then you have 6/2 x 3 and since multiplication is before division you multiply to get 6/6 then divide and get one.

Left to right then follow PEDMAS

My question is how did you even get 1 in the first place

King said you do multiplication before division in PEMDAS apparently. So his method in 6/2(2+1) was add 2+1 for 3 and then multiply by the 2 so you have 6/6= 1. Was a quality conversation to say the least lol. Atleast your a good sport @King

6/2(1+2)

Parenthesis first so-

6/2(3)

Exponents- none

Multiplication

6/6

Division

1

Addition - none

Subtraction - None

BUT -- Division and Multiplication Move L-->R

So

Division of 6/2*3

becomes

3*3

= 9

6/2(1+2)

PEMDAS

Parentheses first

(1+2) = 3

6/2(3)

For this problem you don't do 2*3, due to Division and Multiplication moving from left to right, Just like what @Pledge said. Instead you do 6/2

6/2 = 3

3(3) = 9

It's not rocket science

The problem I see people making here is they add (2+1) = 3. Then they remove the parenthesis and get  6/2 x 3

You need to keep the parenthesis. See ---->

6/2(3)

^   ^

3 x 3

^

9

Actually PEMDAS PEDMAS BEDMAS are all right... Theoretically you could swap the A and S to as those move from left to right as well...I was just giving Deadpool a hard time because why not and also the super common acronym Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
