  1. 1) Maybe after the situation has already started. Most times it's getting engaged via text and have less than 10 seconds to react before your tazed and restrained though. By then usually some cops are already restrained and it limits the numbers able to respond. 2) Yeah I talked to those officers about how they handled that situation. Not great RP at all. (They were mostly salty though as they were taken hostage from you prior to that situation) 3) Outnumbered is true though seeing how it's large groups of people with tasers that are the problem. The taser buff also seems more like a temporary fix as well. 4) Player report then. 5) The scats were a separate comparison. I will also argue your information on 10 - 20 cops at a time. At peaks times and with no federal event active it is usually less than 10.
  2. 1) There are much better ways to level the playing field. While the ability to restrain APD members certainly changes the playing field, it breaks the system. In fact, it actually doesn't level the playing field really at all considering the situations in which it is used most were pretty balanced pre-update (Thinking of a normal fight between Patrol Officers and Rebels) 2) You forget to consider that the greatest RP opportunities normally don't present themselves after you get caught either fighting or evading the police. They also don't present themselves well after you start quoting rules like crazy (Berg I don't think I have seen a situation in which the APD has caught you and you don't quote rules). 3) Being tazed within a few minutes doesn't necessarily mean that the officers are "retard rushing". Most situations are Patrol Officers and lower getting caught and there isn't much they can do and it's hard to get backup when a) The entire force in the area is tazed. b.) The rest of the APD are across the map. c) The rest of the officers are likely fighting a losing battle, as they are probably out numbered and out-geared, with the only advantage they have is a slightly better caliber weapon. 4) If an officer is deeming the situation "tactical advantage" and the situation clearly shows lack of value of life by the officer, REPORT IT. The sAPD have a system and it works. Use it. sAPD are on and you are doing a hostage situation? Don't expect to be the only captor. Get your guys to fortify the area so the APD can't end it without failing. Don't expect to be in the middle of the square and have a hostage situation go completely fine. If the sAPD fail to stop the situation and hostages get killed, depending on the situation I would attempt to speak to a Deputy Chief or higher. And if that doesn't work then a player report will do. 5) The cops are one of the major factions on this server. A decline this significant is a major problem as it could easily lead to a slippery slope down later. It is the first sign that there IS a problem. With your logic, the civilian population could decrease from a 100 person average to a 60 person average but "who cares, we still have 60 civilians on average". <-- This is the same fight as "cartel life dying" Whilst the servers were still at max population, a lot of well known players stopped playing and scats took up the majority of the server slots. I can't answer six as I am not sAPD and I feel there are missing facts.
  3. If you can manage to get your hands on an APD ghosthawk, use it (proper engagement of course) Easier said than done though. @-CK- Mango
  4. I am against removing the vigi spars but I will say this: Vigis aren't meant to counter rebels directly, so it doesn't make sense for a vigi to have over 5.56.
  5. 4 Rebels with 5.56, better gear, and a better team > 4 POs with 6.5, tac vests, and have very little experience fighting with each other. Let's put this comparison into perspective: (I mean no disrespect to anyone here) To get to the point: The APD cannot possibly rely on one firefight to end a situation every time. The reason most cops are leaving not that they are "Trash", but rather that it can be next to impossible to win situations with these standards. Another point to bring up is that it isn't the money hungry cops that are leaving. It's the RP dedicated officers and those who enjoy cop for what it is. Want examples? Talk to @Krisskross @Pledge @G.O.A.T. @Bubbaloo Burrito @Lucki just to name a few.
  6. I do agree that in certain aspects the APD could improve marginally, but look at this from the other aspect. The average APD squad (lets say 1 Corporal, 3 Patrol Officers, and 2 Deputies) are out-gunned, out-geared, and ANY situation is fought through attrition of the opposing force. The APD squad isn't meant to win the first couple waves. It is meant to slowly resolve the situation as more suspects are getting caught over time. What people are failing to understand is that civilians need to also learn how to handle this. Whether it is fleeing from the situation or taking steps to ensure that you can free your buddies that are restrained, there is a way to handle this. The problem with allowing cops to be restrained is that it eliminates the primary way that APD wins. It voids how Olympus cops normally act. With cops being restrained, it removes the simulation of waves and cops have to rely on winning the first couple waves regardless if they are out-gunned, out-geared, and are playing the attackers. So why does this work fine on Asylum? Here are a couple reasons (keep in mind I don't play Asylum, so this is just based off of what I know) 1) Cops don't fight civs as much there - therefore the issue isn't as present 2) Patrol Officers have lethals - they are able to deal with the situation instantly more often This change isn't for Olympus. This is why some other steps and changes are currently under effect.
  7. I am pretty sure this is exclusive to revives currently. Maybe something for the future?
  8. Congrats @Ignis on mod

    and @Mercury on Admin!!!

  9. @Wonderwaffle Make your own Miranda rights! Call them the Waffle rights. Makes for a more unique RP story. Post it on the forums when you are done!!!
  10. Good job on making posts relevant to the topic. +1 With that logic lets make sure to hold back on any faction textures, and just use default textures straight from Bohemia. Three new textures should not make that significant of a difference in the amount of texture bugs you already get. But in all seriousness there is really no physical value to capturing a news team member except for an APD hostage negotiation. Just read what Jesse said guys.
  11. This will be the biggest court case this year. Major stand you ground case. Doggo vs. BinkieMcFartNuggets I wonder if this will ever be brought up to the Supreme Court? Maybe at least judge Judy?
  12. Would you like if the scenario was 13 cops vs 13 rebels? Rebels still going to win 8/10 times if I am just replacing the number of both of them. If there is knowledge of sAPD online then why would you hesitate to have someone bring a titan to the federal event too? Also my scenario was the cops getting tased. If the sAPD member gets tased then he must have some sort of magic if he is pulling a ghosthawk all the way in the middle of the fed compound. Just as the APD need to learn tactics, so do the rebels too.
  13. You are exactly right. It physically doesn't make sense that civs couldn't restrain cops. I just think that it shouldn't be allowed at a federal event. There is a reason that people hate it. It doesn't fit in with real logic. The whole point of several waves is to simulate a real, large police force. With the cops getting tazed and restrained, you can't simulate that. Cheating that system. It suddenly doesn't become a battle of attrition and rather it becomes a battle of who can taze each other first. Five Patrol Officers with paper thin armor that hardly know each other compared to 5 better geared rebels with knowledge of each other (better chemistry) and playing the defensive? Rebels are going to win 9 times out of 10.
  14. Yes it is annoying to be in danger as a medic, but it doesn't compare to the chaos that the APD have to deal with. Where one of the most annoying things on medic is getting RDM'd in Kavala, on the APD you could have your HQ camped for easily 30 minutes to an hour. Just because there isn't a federal event doesn't mean that the APD isn't busy. They are almost always in the middle of something. Another reason is generally medical calls are either in the middle of the city (where the cops are usually at), in the middle of a red zone (sometimes too far for the normal PO to respond quickly to, also a ton of medics still can't comprehend the idea that only sAPD can respond to a rebel or cartel area, so that rules out like 60% of requests), and then in the middle of no where. - the point I am getting at is that the location is usually rather inconvenient.
  15. Happy Birthday! @The Mad Russian

  16. You make good money off of a successful Federal Reserve robbery. It is also easier to do the fed since the complex is more closed and there are less cops required to start it. Tip 1) Do the fed at around 5 - 6 cops. Preferably lower ranks on. Tip 2) Start the fed later rather than sooner. The closer to restart, the more gold. But make sure you have enough time to leave and sell the gold and do not rush yourself. Tip 3) If there is more than 8 cops on, it might be better to wait if your gang doesn't have the numbers. Tip 4) Become a cop. Helps you learn the call outs and strategies and rules of the other side. - Probably the best tip Tip 5) Don't shoot the ghosthawk if possible. Tip 6) Don't kill all the cops. They have wave rule. If you can stall a deputy for several minutes in a firefight, it can mean a huge difference. Tip 7) Cooperate with your team. It takes good coordination with your gang or whoever you do the fed with to pull it off. Organize call outs, positions, and have back up plans. Tip 8) Block the gates and jump spots with cars. Tip 9) Accept failure. Learn off of the mistakes that are made and work off of them. You could have over 2,000 hours in Arma but if you have never done a fed before, there is a good chance it will fail. Experience is key. Those are just a few I could think of @James Withers
